A Proud Heritage: The African American Contribution to Our Community – Feb. 11

Sunday, February 11, 3:00 pm

Explore the vital African American presence and contribution in our community dating back to colonial times.

Elaine Buck and Beverly Mills, researchers, authors, and activists who both have multi-generational roots in the area, will bring long neglected awareness to the accomplishments of prominent and everyday African Americans who helped establish the Hopewell Valley and Sourland Mountain regions.

Through photographs, information from municipal manumission papers, site location maps and oral histories, Buck and Mills affirm that there is indeed more than one single narrative in history.
