About the presenter:
Alyssa Luning obtained a bachelor’s of science in Culinary Nutrition from Johnson & Wales in Providence RI in 2012 before she was accepted into Tulane University for her dietetic internship. Her first full time position was as a community nutrition & culinary educator for Whole Foods Market. Afterwards, she worked as an outpatient bariatric dietitian, obtaining her CSOWM (Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management). Her curiosity later took her to Washington D.C. to work for a non-profit organization to research and promote the health benefits of a plant based diet. Once home in NJ, she worked at local hospitals as a clinical inpatient dietitian. Now, things have come full circle and she is working full time as a community nutrition & culinary educator with RWJ Barnabas Hamilton. She gets the most joy out of being a dietitian from working with patients who reverse their type 2 diabetes, as it takes such great strength and patience.
