Join us for a virtual journey through Montparnasse, the heart of Parisian artistic life in the early 20th century! We’ll visit the places where Amedeo Modigliani lived, see the famous cafés where artists and writers like Picasso, Hemingway, Joséphine Baker, and many others gathered, and step into the vibrant atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties. We’ll also see the spot where Hemingway first met F. Scott Fitzgerald, bringing to life the pages of A Moveable Feast. Grab your copy and let’s relive the Golden Age of Montparnasse!
Sponsored by the Friends of the Pennington Public Library.
About our Presenter: Edith de Belleville is a native Parisian and an attorney at law with many years of experience. At 50, her passion for Paris and its history led her back to university to earn her official tour guide license. Now she shares the magic of Paris with visitors in French, English, and Spanish. Deeply inspired by the great Parisian women of the past, she wrote The Beautiful Rebels of Paris (Belles et Rebelles, Editions du 81) in French, as well as her Paris memoirs in English, Parisian Life: Adventures in the City of Light. When she’s not researching her next book on the Jewish female artists of Montparnasse, you’ll find her on a café terrace, watching the world go by.
