Library Awarded Pennington Day Grant

Pennington Public Library is pleased to have been awarded a 2017 Pennington Day Grant, which will be applied towards the purchase of additional materials for the library’s World Languages Collection.

Library Director Kim T. Ha said the library will purchase picture books in Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese, with expansion to other languages as appropriate. Currently, the library hosts a Brazilian Portuguese Story-time on the last Friday of each month, as well as weekly English Language Conversation sessions.

In awarding the grant, the Pennington Day Committee said the library was chosen because of the positive impact these book purchases will have on the Hopewell Valley community.

The award of $500 will be presented to Library Trustee Rose Yacavone at this year’s Pennington Day on May 20.
