Tech Night In

March 20 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Tech Night In: Friday, March 20, 2026

How well do you know your child’s digital world? Tech Night In is a community-wide invitation to step into each other’s tech spaces to spark conversation and creativity.Technology doesn’t have to be a wall between us—it can be a bridge. Instead of scrolling solo, we’re providing the prompts to help you explore together. Take a look at these suggestions to help you move from “passive users” to “active creators” alongside your kids.

How to Participate

What could your Tech Night In look like?

There’s no “right” way to do Tech Night In, but if you’re looking for a place to start, try one of these Connection Challenges:

  • The “Follower” Tour: Have your teen walk you through their Instagram or TikTok feed. Ask what they find funny, who inspires them, and how they curate their digital space.
  • Co-Op Gaming: Join a lobby together on Steam or pick up the controllers for a round of Overcooked or Minecraft. Experience the strategy and teamwork your kids love firsthand.
  • Digital Time Capsule: Cast your phone’s photo library to the TV and have kids tell the stories behind the pictures from their perspective.
  • Podcast Night: Find a mystery or science podcast the whole family likes and listen to an episode together while doodling or building with LEGOs.
  • Tech Scavenger Hunt: Use your phone to take photos of specific items around the house or neighborhood based on a list of riddles.
  • AI Art Challenge: Use an AI image generator to see who can create the funniest or most “out-there” digital masterpiece using family inside jokes.
  • Digital Mapping: Open Google Earth and “visit” places from the family’s past—where parents grew up, where you went on vacation, or where you want to go.
  • Code Together: Try a simple “Hour of Code” project or a logic-based puzzle app to solve a digital challenge as a team.
  • Family Playlist: Collaborate on Spotify or Apple Music to build a “Family Road Trip” or “Kitchen Dance Party” soundtrack.
  • Smart Home Fun: Program your smart lights or speakers to create a “thematic” atmosphere for dinner or a movie night.
