In this funny and inspiring in-person workshop, cartoonist Mike Dawson will teach participants the fundamentals of creating comics, including how to build an interesting plot line, design strong characters and use drawings to express emotions. All participants will author their own comics and receive a Cartooning Lesson Workbook, designed by Mike to support the concepts covered in the workshop. Recommended for ages 8-12.
Mike Daw
son is the Ignatz Award-winning author of several graphic novels and comics collections, including the Junior Library Guild selected middle-grade series, THE FIFTH QUARTER. His work has appeared at The Nib, Slate, and The New Yorker, and has been nominated for multiple Eisners and Ignatzes, as well as the Slate Cartoonists Studio Prize.
