In many cultures, the full moon is a time of celebration. Families and communities come together to observe rituals, honor ancestors and reflect on life. Hanging and lighting lanterns is seen by many as a way to welcome good luck and happiness during this time.

In this family-friendly workshop led by members of the Hopewell Valley Arts Council, you will make your own lantern that you can hang to celebrate the upcoming full moon on March 18. You’ll also learn more about the history of the lantern and discover why this full moon is called the Worm Moon!

Recommended for ages 6+.
