Epic Reads for the YA Crowd

EpicReads, a colorful and exciting website published by Harper Collins for the YA World (that’s publishing lingo for the young adult market) dishes up news and reviews of books from their YA list, especially new titles in the pipeline.

There is so much to do and explore on this site. Follow your favorite authors, participate in polls, take mind-challenging quizzes, win prizes, watch videos from the Epic Reads YouTube channel, *book shimmy!*

Readers can join the Epic Reads Community, upload their favorite pics and videos, “like” and “share”, recommend and review. They can post and comment on the site’s blog, create wish lists, and establish their very own network of Epic Reads friends. There are Instagram, twitter and tumblr feeds to follow, and awesome blog features including Book Nerds Unite, Author Guest Posts, Cover Lust, Book Trailers, Sneak Peeks, Reading Playlists and Infographics.

Not to be missed is The *Book Shimmy* Awards, Epic Reads’ annual award show dedicated to honoring young adult novels. The awards are 100% community nominated and voted on and, as the site says, “100% awesome.” Check out this year’s 2016 winners. Then dig into the archives to see what winners you might have missed in years passed.

One last rec. Don’t miss the BookShelfie section! This blog series asks YA authors to take selfies in front of their bookshelves, hence, a bookshelfie! Paired with interviews with the authors, YA fans get a glimpse into the lives of their favorite writers. Here’s our favorite, the BookShelfie of Carolyn Makler, author of Infinite In Between; the award-winning The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things, a Printz Honor Book; The Future of Us, coauthored with Jay Asher; Tangled; and many, many more!
