The Birth Control Pill, A History – Feb. 25

Sunday February 25 at 3pm

Who were the people behind the development of The Pill?  What political, religious, ethical, legal, and financial obstacles did they overcome to introduce the drug to millions of women – and how on earth did they do it?  After all, this was the 1950’s.

Come meet Bill Ducharme, Former Scientific Researcher for the  acclaimed Worcester Foundation of Experimental Biology.  Ducharme worked under the direction of the renowned Director Dr. George Pincus during the 1950’s.  Along with an illustrious group of iconoclasts who funded the initiative, their work led to the development of the first birth control pill, known to this day as “The Pill”.  Ducharme offers us a front seat on the factious journey of this medical and cultural breakthrough.
