What happens when we let our minds wander?
We are excited to announce The “What If?” Art Show, a special exhibition hosted at the Global Neurosciences Institute in partnership with the Hopewell Valley Arts Council and the Pennington Public Library.
This collection features 14 local artists of all ages. You’ll find everything from whimsical robots and upcycled works to thoughtful reflections on nature and abstract dreams—echoing the inventive spirit of Ted Chiang’s Exhalation by exploring the ‘what ifs’ of our own existence. It’s an intimate, cozy space designed to offer a moment of quiet inspiration for everyone.
Families are encouraged to stop by! It’s a wonderful way to spark “What If?” conversations with the kids!
Come celebrate the diverse voices of our community!
We invite the public to enjoy this exhibition at their own pace. As this is an active medical space, we thank you for your quiet presence as you celebrate the diverse voices of our community.

This event is part of our 2026 Beyond the Page – an initiative designed to broaden our imaginations and understanding of our world, our neighbors, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. The featured book Exhalation contains nine stunningly original, provocative, and poignant stories, where author Ted Chiang tackles some of humanity’s oldest questions, along with new quandaries only he could imagine. Please visit PenningtonLibrary.org/2026BeyondThePage for a full calendar of events and more information.
