Pushing The Limits

A Science Reading, Viewing, Discussion and Exploration series for Adults and Teens 16 and over

Through June 2014



The Pennington Public Library is one of 75 public libraries in the nation chosen to implement a free reading, viewing, discussion and exploration series that brings together books, video, seminars, and hands-on experiences in order to help answer the question, "How do advances in science and technology affect our lives every day?"


Sunday, April 6 at 3pm - How You Feel is Data!: An experiential workshop on food, mood and behavior - Dorothy Mullen, Founder of The Suppers Program, NJ

Thursday, April 17 at 7 pm - BOOK DISCUSSION - Discuss the book When the Killing's Done and view video of author T.C. Boyle. View NATURE video about triple-amputee athlete Cameron Clapp. Registration opens March 20.

Thursday, April 24 @ 7 pm - There's An App for That: Discover new apps that you can implement in your daily life. - Tyler Caton, Mercer County Computer Service


Saturday, May 10 at 10 am - How Clean is My Stream?: A stream investigation in Kunkel Park- Jeff Hoagland, Education Director, Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association. Note: Registration requested for this outdoor, hand-on exploration program that will be held in Kunkel Park.

Thursday, May 15 at 7 pm - BOOK DISCUSSION - Discuss the book Thunderstruck and view video of author Erik Larson. View CONNECTION video of artist Roxanne Swentzell. Registration opens April 17.


Thursday, June 12 at 7 pm - BOOK DISCUSSION - Discuss the book The Land of Painted Caves and view video of author Jean Auel. View KNOWLEDGE video about celebrity chef Sean Brock. Registration opens May 15.

Unless noted, programs will be held at the Pennington Public Library. Refreshments will be served at book discussions. Preregistration for individual book discussions are requested but not required. First five registrants of each session will receive a free copy of that month's book. Door prizes will be drawn at book discussions. Feel free to come to one, any or all sessions.
