Author Talk: Jersey Justice: The Story of the Trenton Six:
June 9, 3 pm
Author and historian Cathy D. Knepper discusses her account of a
shocking chapter in American history. In 1948, elderly junk dealer
William Horner was murdered in his Trenton shop. Six local African
American men were accused and sentenced to the electric chair. If
not for the tireless
efforts of Bessie Mitchell, sister of one of the six, the story
would have ended there. Well-researched and reading like a detective
story, Jersey
Justice brings
to light a shameful moment in our nation's history, but it also
tells the story of a personal battle for social justice that changed
America.
